"MARCIA DAVIS & OUTRO"

The New York based international reggae band, Marcia Davis & Outro, was originally formed by former bandmates Kofi Bannerman, David Delgado, and Marcia Davis, in 1999 as an offshoot of the band, The Cornerstones.

Born in England to Jamaican parents, lead singer and songwriter Marcia Davis has had her roots steeped in reggae music. Encouraged from an early age by her family members which include cousin Burro Banton of "Boom Wha Dis" fame, Ms. Davis has continuously strived to embrace and enhance the quality of reggae music. With the addition of Carla Kelly, Simone Gordon, and recently Joanne Williams as back-up vocalists, the band now features some of the most dynamic and crucial female reggae voices in the industry as well as a truly international line-up. Their vibrant and fresh music, coupled with Ms. Davis' sweet yet sonorous contralto, enabled the newly formed band to become successful, playing popular New York venues such as Lion's Den, Joe's Pub, Shine, Irving Plaza and the renowned SOB's.

Among their many appearances, the band has performed with reggae greats Mykal Rose, Gregory Isaacs, Bushman and Eric Donaldson. They have performed at historical exhibitions such as the 58th Annual Bob Marley Day celebration which was hosted and presented by the reggae historian Roger Steffens. They have also opened for the legendary Burning Spear at New York’s Irving Plaza, a concert for which Marcia Davis and Outro were given accolades from the great man himself. Their summer performance with the Abyssinians to a sold out Prospect Park was given wonderful reviews and their recent well-received unplugged show at SOBs with “The Messenger” Luciano was a “rare treat” (W.I.Soul Magazine).

The band members are: Marcia Davis - Lead Vocalist/songwriter, Simone Gordon ,Carla Kelly and Joanne Williams - Vocals, Iobi – Bass, Reuben Drummy/Neil Sanders – Drums, Yasto Taga -guitar, Earl Appleton– Keyboards.http://www.marciadavisband.com
