"DJ"

I was born in London , England. My parents are both from Jamaica. I started to have an interest in music from a very young age, taking drum lessons at the age of twelve. My father had a sound system and my mother was always singing Church songs. Music has always been an important part of my life. At age 14 I discovered the bass guitar and the love affair with this instrument was born. Before migrating to Florida in 1991, I lived in Connecticut and continued my music career.
Over the years I have worked with many internationally known Reggae artists including Kimani Marley, Damien Marley, Julian Marley, I-threes, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Yellow Man, Sugar Minott, Tony Rebel, and The Mighty Diamonds. I have also worked with some R&B artists such as Percy Sledge & the Delfonics.

IN DEPTH

"In The Reggae Spotlight" is pleased to profile bassist extraordinaire DENZIL SIMPSON.DJ comes to us from lovely London.(England that is) Music has been a part of his life as long as he can remember. His father & uncle operated sound systems in England.Sometimes Dougal & Uncle Sterling would combine the two systems for big events.DJ would tag along as they set up their equipment & as he got older he would stay & help wipe off & pass records to them. While in school he would play in the percussion section & also operate his own sound system. He would be performing around New England shortly after with many reggae artists. The traveling would begin to expand to other locations as Brazil,Japan,Mexico, several Carribean islands & even back to London. He enjoys the island vibes in florida where he is currently living. He has stayed in Key West for a while performing at rum runners. He was also on a cruise ship sailing throughout the carribean. After playing cover tunes for years his love for original music grew stronger. That thirst would be satisfied when he united with Technodread.Stay tuned Technodread is working hard in the studio right now.
