Dred I Dread is a Minneapolis
based Reggae Band and was formed
in the fall of 1998. During the
first year of Jammin’ Dred
I Dread was chosen as "Best
Local Reggae Band" by City
Pages magazine. In March of 2000,
Dred I Dread released their debut
CD "Listen to the Revolution”.
The CD was produced by the international
reggae keyboardist Tony "Asher"
Brisset, one of the founding members
of Black Uhuru. During 2000 and
2001, Dred I Dread was named the
“Best Reggae Band in Minnesota"
by the Minnesota Music Academy.
The name Dred I Dread means "fear
my dreadlocks", and the musicians
that make up Dred I Dread fearlessly
infuse traditional reggae and
roots music with hip hop, dancehall,
and rock for a truly original
mix.

Pewee Dread: Vocals
Dred I Dread is fronted by New
Orleans native Peewee Dread. “I
sing for the love of the music,
“ says Pee Wee Dread, native
New Orleanian. Has played rock
and roll to reggae to classical
violin and incorporated his influences
into his Creole – Caribbean
style.
Rawle' G: Drums, Back Vocals
The one and only Rawle G. from
Kingston supplies the beats and
the back vocals. Founding member
of Dred I dread has his signature
on lyrics and the music of most
of the Dred I Dread songs. Rawle'
moved to New York City in 1986
to follow his dream of making
a living in music. In New York
City, he immersed himself in a
variety of sounds, including ska,
reggae, and hard rock. Rawle'
became a staple in the NYC music
scene with the bands: Extra Sausage,
the Band Droidz, and Oly Gungu
Fiest, who toured across the United
States opening for Junior Reid.
Leaving New York in 1998, Rawle'
moved to Minneapolis and set about
turning the reggae scene upside
down by forming Dred I Dread.
Alex Cole Jr.: Bass Guitar
As a Twin Cities native, Alex
has been involved with the Minneapolis
music scene since high school
He's been seen on stage with Dred
I Dread, The Dank, Monsters of
the Midway, and Green Spirit.
He's considered one of the best
young bass players in the Twin
Cities.
M. Serdar Guvenc: Guitars
Born in Ankara, Turkey, Serdar
plays the guitars in Dred I Dread.
His performances include very
diverse musical genres including,
Calypso, Soca, Turkish Music,
Reggae, Punk, Blues, and Rock.
During his musical career he played
bass with punk rock bands, performed
in the first rock opera of Turkey
as the lead guitar player. Besides
Dred I Dread he has been performing
with Cyril Paul & the Caylpso
Monarchs and Nabýz in a
wide variety of events. He loves
to play any kind of good music
that can contribute to a mutual
share of emotions, with the band
members and the audience. He says”
As long as people are dancing,
I fell like we are doing a good
job.”
Eric Lilya: Keyboards
Originally from Northern Minnesota,
Eric has been playing piano for
all of his life. After finishing
high school, Eric moved to Minneapolis
to attend Music Tech, studying
jazz and classical piano. Upon
graduating in December of 2000,
Eric began to work with a variety
of bands in the Twin Cities, playing
everything from fusion rock to
hip-hop before joining Dread I
Dread.
