Detour Posse is without a doubt the hottest Reggae band on the L.A. scene. These dynamic and talented individuals cam together in 1994 seeking to create a new breed of Reggae music. Since then, they have been working hard and inspiring each other to create a melodic blend of roots, dancehall, lover’s rock, Ska, R&B and funk guaranteed to rock any audience whether old or young white or black.They have risen up the ranks of the Los Angeles club scene to become one of the most sought after acts in California.
While the band features top musicians from around the globe (Trinidad, U.S., Virgin Islands), they share one common vision that is evident in the universality of their music. The members are seasoned session musicians who have jammed with everyone from Half Pint to Santana. They have also established themselves as a top notch backing band, touring the globe with many international superstars such as Barrington Levy, Sean Paul, Lady Saw, Mr. Vegas, Frankie Paul and countless others. Detour Posse has become a top draw, performing at huge concerts worldwide like Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Reggae on The River, the Greek Theater, Bob Marley Day in Long Beach, the San Diego Sports Arena, the Santa Barbara County Bowl, University of Virgin Islands in St. Thomas and the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. 2001 brought the release of their first full length CD entitled, “Chariot in the Sky” (DP records).
It has brought much critical acclaim as well as radio play on stations from Jamaica to California, including IRIE fm and L.A.’s own 100.3 The Beat and is gaining momentum everyday.
